Quotes about Boris Johnson

This is the most distrustful, awful environment I’ve ever worked in, in government. Almost nobody tells the truth

I think one of the biggest challenges of leadership and strategic leadership is the people who you surround yourself with. And I think if you surround yourself with people who inevitably will tell you everything’s all right, and what you want to hear because they basically want you to think best of them then if that if that happens you will get surprises when things aren’t being done. And the reality is I think Boris Johnson is deeply committed to this agenda, I think he wants to deliver it but the truth is that nothing has been done. And we’ve had an incredibly difficult year with coronavirus and all the rest of it and he is the prime minister and he’s got all these challenges going on. And I respect that and I totally accept that. But he should expect his ministers I think to be as committed to the manifesto as he is and If I’m made to feel like I’m the last man in the room who’s willing to fulfil our manifesto commitments there is something wrong. We’ve reached that point so I left.

It’s a question of accountability in politics, it’s a question of integrity. This whole trust thing, I see people talking about it. This is the most distrustful, awful environment I’ve ever worked in, in government. Almost nobody tells the truth.
